Quit Your Way Scotland is run by NHS 24 on behalf of the Scottish Government and is staffed by trained advisors who'll be able to give you personalised advice.

Quit Your Way Scotland has no minimum age limit, and you have the choice to chat with us for free on the phone or through webchat.

You can trust Quit Your Way Scotland to respect your confidentiality. You won't receive any letters and we won't share your information without your consent.

We know that smoking isn't just about cigarettes. If you've started using e-cigarettes, instead of or alongside cigarettes, we can provide support. If you're smoking alongside recreational drugs, we can signpost you to help and advice.

When you contact a Quit Your Way Scotland advisor they'll find out as much as they can about your current smoking habits. They'll offer advice and information to increase your chances of stopping for good.

Everyone's different, and that means the way you stop smoking needs to be tailored to your needs. It's all about finding a combination that works for you.

At Quit Your Way Scotland we know that willpower alone isn't always enough to stop for good. Our advisors will guide you through what's helped other smokers, and help you figure out what's most likely to work for you. This could range from advice and information to finding you help in your local area.

Make a quit plan

Quitting is tough, but being prepared boosts your chances of success.

By following a few easy steps we can help you create a personalised quit plan, get ready to quit and find out what to expect along the way.

In your plan you will:

  • set your quit date
  • choose your reasons for quitting
  • notice when you have a cigarette and add your triggers - knowing these will help you stay in control
  • prepare to fight cravings and add tips for beating these to your quit plan

Getting help from local services

Scotland's free and friendly local stop smoking services can hugely increase your chances of having a successful quit attempt and staying stopped for good.

Wherever you stay in Scotland, you can get help from your local pharmacy and specialist stop smoking services.
